Carlucci grew up playing many sports, but set his sights on professional tennis. That is, until his senior year at Upland High School, in L.A. County, California, when volleyball was introduced to him by a group of friends. Wanting a new challenge, Carlucci decided to try out for the team and in doing so found his new passion. That season he led his team to the Division I-SS championship game, was 1st Team All-CIF, Fab 50, and a Mizuno All-American. Carlucci was also a champion as a member of the United States Jr. Olympic team. In college, Carlucci was California Player of the Year, leading Golden West College to back-to-back state championships. He was voted player of the year as well as MVP of his team, the league, and the state tournament. Carlucci decided to take up the beach game in 1998. In 1999 he was the second ranked amateur and turned pro joining the AVP in 2000. Since then he has continuously been ranking higher in the AVP Tournaments every year. Carlucci won the first-ever US Open Beach Volleyball Championship in September 2007. He and Chris Seiffert formed one of the hottest teams on the final events of the 2007 AVP Pro tour. Most recently in 2008 Carlucci reached a ranking of 7th place in the AVP tour, and continues to show great promise for the upcoming season in 2009. In the off-season, Carlucci presents health & wellness school assembly programs, wanting to reduce childhood obesity. He has a background modeling, acting and video production. Biography
Anthony grew up playing volleyball in Santa Barbara under the tutelage of his High School Coach Jon Lee. He has been competing on the beach since he was 14 years old, and won his first semi-pro youth tournament at 16. Although Medel grew up playing both indoor and beach volleyball, beach has always been his passion. It has always been a dream of his to someday play alongside some of the all-time greats he grew up watching on the AVP Tour.
During his time at San Marcos High as an outside hitter, he helped the Royals grab two Channel League Championships and three CIF appearances with a fourth place finish his senior year along with an undefeated league record. He earned all-Channel League honors his junior and senior year.
After a brief stint as a starting outsider hitter for Santa Barbara City College, he transferred to Golden West and helped lead them to a second place finish in the State in 1999-2000, ranking #1 in kills and aces, and notching a First Team All-Conference selection. Anthony was also an Orange County Athlete in the Week in 2000 for the Rustlers, compiling 57 kills in two playoff matches. During his time in college, Medel competed in numerous semi-pro beach tournaments.
After two years of Junior College volleyball, Medel decided to forgo his final two years of eligibility at a University and give the AVP Tour a shot. Medel took his first career top ten finish in Austin with partner John Moran. In 2005 he began playing with partner Ty Loomis, and the two notched a night place finish in Huntington Beach. Midway through the 2006 season he teamed with Fred Souza, and their six tournaments resulted in his six best career finishes to that point. Medel finished the 2006 season ranked fourth on the AVP Tour in aces, with 0.65 per game, and twelfth in digs with 479. In 2007, Medel and partner Souza’s success continued both having bested their finishes from the previous season appearing in three semi-finals, most notably Manhattan Beach, where Medel and Souza took down the current World Champions Rogers and Dallhouser (#3 seed) and knocked Lambert and Metzger (#1 seed) out of the tournament. Anthony Medel and partner Fred Souza finished the 2007 AVP Season ranked the #5 team in the country.
In 2008 Medel ranked top 25 in hitting percentage, with 5th in Aces, 6th in Kills and 10th in Digs. He finished as the 11th-ranked player for the second straight season.
In 2009, Medel gained the sponsorship of NutriShop Redondo Beach, furthering his sports nutrition and fitness, knowledge and experience. With the added benefits of NutriShop's knowledgeable staff and leading product lines, Medel continues to improve his health and performance.

Biography
Mike grew up playing beach volleyball on the beaches of Del Mar, CA at the age of twelve. By the age of thirteen, Mike won a B level tournament to earn his A rating in Ocean Beach, CA. He competed in junior level competition up until the age of sixteen winning 5 National Beach Volleyball Titles. Also at the age of sixteen, Mike was ranked #1 in Southern
California as a tennis junior and earned himself a scholarship to represent the UC Santa Barbara tennis team.
After a successful tennis career at UCSB, Mike decided to pursue his childhood dream and compete on the AVP Tour. After battling through AVP Tour qualifiers for a couple years Mike broke through and qualified in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006 earning him a 17th place finish. The following year Mike qualified in Huntington Beach, CA and defeated the #4 seeded team of Sean Scott and Matt Fuerbringer in the opening round for the biggest win of his career.
In 2008 Mike began the year with 13th and 9th place finishes in Miami and Dallas and has become a consistent player in the AVP Main Draw ever since. Over the course of 2008 Mike and partner Russ Marchewka finished in the top 10 four times including a career high 3rd place in his hometown of San Diego, CA. Mike and Russ finished the year as the 13th ranked team on tour and Mike finished the season ranked 30th individually. Mike was also a runner up for AVP Tour Rookie of the Year.
This past season in 2009 Mike followed up his 2008 campaign with four more top 10 finishes playing with partners Jeff Carlucci and John Moran. Over the last seven tournaments Mike placed 13th or better including a 7th place finish in Chicago, IL.
In 2009, Mike was introduced to NutriShop Redondo Beach, whom quickly became his newest sponsors. Mike continues to work closely with NutriShop, expanding his knowledge on his overall health, nutrition and endurance.
